Snow, snow, snow

Trafoi is situated right in the middle of a National Park so if you are lucky early mornings, or late afternoon you might get to see some of these wonderful creatures:

This year all the lifts were open and it is wonderful views everywhere you look:

Funny how much brighter and lighter the world seems to be when it is covered in snow!

Italian Alps

This little village is at the beginning of a long winding road up to Trafoi,
and everywhere you look there is majestic big mountains, -with snow.
Being in Italy you'll find crucifix's on every corner,
nice and rustic, this bakery has got the best Florentine's I've ever had.
 Old and new mixing well
Finally up the hill at Hotel Tannenheim we are greeted by this view:
Can't wait to strap on that snowboard tomorrow :-)

A Christmas invite....

I haven't been home to celebrate Christmas for a couple of years now, opting instead of celebrating it in the Italian Alps with no stress, good friends, plenty of snow and no dishes!

However, for my family and friends I don't get to see I'd like to invite you to my imaginary Xmas:
Where the Xmas table is immaculately laid with the finest porcelain plates and silverware,
The Xmas tree is lit,

and the house is filled with Xmas decorations.
Outside it is snowing, off course,
so the fireplace inside is warming and welcoming...
so that we can all wear pretty dresses.
Have a wonderful pre Christmas time everyone.

Lots of love

It's been a long time...

Taking advantage of some sun in London I took my new camera out to the park to get some fresh air and some peace of mind.

One of the many things I love about London is their parks, the green sanctuaries to walk around in.

Blue skies on a relatively mild December day.

Love is in the air

Before we left our island you could almost feel the love in the air.
Below is Greg, Anitha, RJ posing with his gangsta pose and their newest member of the family, little JR.
Further down the road our neighbours Tom and Sally have become "parents" to a beautiful baby goat called Sumba. He is such a little delight and the perfect pet to our raw-food vegan friends.
At our house we have also required a new "daughter". Princess is her name and she is the most precious furry little friend with a personality that could match any diva.

Road trippers

With our friends visiting we decided to forgo our normal schedule and do a day trip to show them a bit of the island.
First lesson was how to ride a motorbike.

Second stop: The local petrol station.
And off we went. The road is pretty dodgy in places but we all made it in one piece to one of our favourite beaches.
Where we did what we do best: lounging around in the sun.
Not too crowded eh?

A day at the Lontar Spa. ( I love my job)

After all that cleaning up getting our house ready for guests we headed to the SPA for some well deserved back rubbing. Jerome visited us earlier this year and left us with the luxurious goodbye present of 6 treatments at the Lontar Spa. Which believe me have been heaven sent for us both.
I also have the extremely important job of being the Quality Controller of the Spa. ( I love this job and I love Sascha for letting me do this). So every once in a while I will come in and try a treatment that the girls don't do regularly, like say the "Divine Renewal".
"Take your clothes off and lay face down please"
Unfortunately I am really not good at this job as the last treatments I have had in the SPA have been so wonderful and the music so smoothing and the oils smells really good and the girls are really, really good at what they do so I have done the unthinkable: Fallen asleep.
Which is in a way the best compliment I could give the girls.

The shop in the SPA is still going great and there is some good buys to be made.
(Sorry I just had to :-)

Who wouldn't like to have a head, neck and shoulder massage in these surroundings?

We're having visitors this week you get to truly experience the "inside out living".
It is three of them so I made a bed on the outside of our little shed and on the inside.

This is normally where we work out as with the new roof we have a great shady area but we figured we'd loose our rope systems and yoga maths for the time being.

3 weeks

3 weeks, 1 day and 6 hours I've been living without sugar, dairy, animal products, coffee.
It's been pretty hard and heaven knows how much honey I've used in my tea's in that time but I've done it. That is up until this morning.
Yesterday some friends of ours came over and gave us this chocolate box:
Which just happens to be filled with my favourite chocolates in the whole world.
John's eyes light up like a Christmas tree as he has eaten all chocolate in sight, (he claims that is so I won't get tempted), and I knew he would down this box in no time. This is what was left when I opened up the fridge this morning:
So I cracked.
The chocolates tasted absolutely  D I V I N E . I had 4 of them
and are now suffering from withdrawal.
But it was totally worth it.
Nom, nom!

"When the moon......

..hits the sky like a mozarella pie, that's amore"

The full moon "moonsets" down here are pretty spectacular and I always slumber through it from my bed, through the bamboo blinds. (Yup, the moon is up and shining, zzzzzzz, still up,zzzzzz ah it's morning and the moon has gone).
I always miss it so this morning I figured I wouldn't.
So I followed John down to the beach at the ungodly hour of 04.30 and sat there watching the "moonset"

Not a whole lot of "amore" going on since by now my hubby was already halfway out the reef but it was still nice and beautiful and serene and actually not a bad way to start the day.

Although I can feel a huge na-na nap coming on later in the day.

Life-saving at Kiteboard beach

The winds have been great for kiteboarding and we took our friends Bev and Jeremy down to kiteboard beach for a swim and to watch the guys in action.
While we were there a guy approach Jeremy with a turtle. Not understanding the language Jeremy understood that the intent was for this guy to eat the turtle so he got all distraught and decided to buy the turtle off him and release it back into the ocean.

Fact is that if they can get hold of a turtle down here on the island they will eat them. It is supposed to be a delicacy.
Lucky for this little fellow though he got to live another day.
John released him softly into the water and we watched him swim away,
far away from turtle eating humans and hopefully he will never return to this beach again, or he'll end up in someone's belly....
