Gail's Bakery in Queens park

I am (un)fortunate enough to have the lovely Gail's bakery in Queens Park a swift 10 minute walk from our house here in London.
I say unfortunate because theoretically by now we are both trying to slim down after a complete and utter eat feast since coming back from Indonesia.

But with Gail's so close to our house it is impossible, (willpower, not available at the moment) and I swear to you that I can  s m e l l  their French sourdough every Sunday morning,
(which is our total splurge day).
I've noticed after so many years living in Indonesia that my stomach now really can't handle too much wheat, but off course every Sunday that is all forgotten.
I mean, who can turn down goodies like the wonderful fondant's, or the infamous carrot cake.
Their cupcakes are also to die for and my favourite is the pecan "mini" pai.

So if you are ever in London and find yourself close to a Gail's bakery, it comes Warmly Recommended,
(and hey they didn't even pay me to make this ad)

Change of neighbourhood

Yup, our wonderful time in the sunshine is over for this year and we are now back in London.
Which to be honest is mind blowing.
It is a complete change of scenery and temperatures and the speed of the internet is out of this world.
There is also still peace to be found in the lovely park close to our house but alas no view to the ocean.
I get to enjoy the last bit of autumn with all its glorious colours.

Monday, 28 October 2013

We've had plenty of on-shore/south winds days which means for some mysterious reason our internet shuts down because it can't handle the winds (?). Really. It is the weirdest thing. The days are super hot and the mornings are filled with dew, as you can see from our sun-deck chairs.
The sarongs are being washed daily as we sweat so much. I love these practical items of clothing.
I am working on my necklaces every day now, trying to finish them before I head back to Europe. There is always a bit of worry when I make them: What if people don't like them? Will I be able to sell any? Did I choose the right style, and so forth. I put a lot of effort and soul into making my little pieces and I do get attached to every single one of them.
My cats are giving me constant entertainment, Day-Day is trying to get to grips with chasing the incense smoke, which is hilarious to watch,
while little Misty prefers chewing and chasing on my toes. It is always heartbreaking when we leave and each year it gets harder and harder. Even though I have some wonderful people looking after my cats and feeding them I miss their cuddles and companionship.
Lately I've even had time to sneak in a cheeky Margarita or two over at the resort whilst watching the sun set. Magic!

my favourite time of day

 No filter,
no fixing
and even more stunning in real life.
Thought I'd share with you one of my favourite sunsets.

The days here on the island is slowly coming to an end.
I am desperately trying to hold on to every single moment, to cherish every single second but the days seem to go by so fast I don't even know what day it is anymore
The surf has been surprisingly good and I have spent a lot of hours in the "blue room" this month, having surf buddies is an extra bonus and gives me the incentive to get out there on my board even when my muscles are begging me to stop. Not a lot of surf happening in the Thames so I am pushing myself to the limit.
The after surf hours are spent in bed for na-na naps and then working on my necklaces.
The sun is getting stronger every day and midday it is so hot out there you can hardly move without breaking into a sweat.
I love the afternoons now it gives me heaps of inspiration.

New Boots

I got new boots in Bali.
Not necessarily to be used here on the island on the beach but soon we are headed back to London where the weather is far more colder!
Does it sound weird when I say I actually miss the rain and the cold now.
This last week internet has been down due to on-shore winds, (really) and it is getting hotter and hotter.

Back on the island

Well, I'm back on our island where the internet speed is super slow, non-moving, irritating and time consuming. Thank heavens for Sundays where we have power until 14.00 in the afternoon and I have time to visit all the blogs that I love dearly!

It is great to be back here with my hubby and the little cats.
Why is it that cats have this intense love for running in between your legs when you walk, trying to trip you up?
Surf is on-shore/south, big waves but non surfable due to the strong winds.

The Rock Bar Ayana and La Favela Jl. oberoi

After our wonderful Spa treatment we headed down to the Rock Bar to watch the sunset.
This place is really popular and there is a funicular taking you down the cliff face where at the bottom you have the coolest bar, great music and 360 degree view of the ocean.
Since we booked a package we had VIP tickets and went straight past the queue that was forming and was at the bar in no time.
There was a bit of a swell running so the views were even more spectacular and I love a cloudy sunset.
Drinks done we headed into a new restaurant in town:
La Favela which is a brand new concept, good food, great music will most certainly come back.
For more pictures of La Favela click here.

The Ayana Spa

The Ayana Resort and Spa out in Jimbaran, Bali is home to one of the worlds largest Auquatonic Seawater pools.
The area itself is huge and stunningly beautiful.
I had heard that the Aquatonic pool would really benefit jet-lag so when my friends arrived from Norway this is where I took them on their first day of the holiday.
It is a super relaxing atmosphere with birds twittering, the gentle sound of water trickling and off course the waves crushing in on the beach below. We picked a two hours treatment which started off with a session in the Aquatonic pool and ended up in the Rock bar with VIP access, cocktails included.
Before the treatment started we drank our welcome drink and got a thorough explanation about the pool and the benefits of it. You go through different stations in the pool where the high powered pressure water hits different parts of your body so in the end you get a full water massage.
A perfect way to start your holiday.

Revolver Espresso Seminyak

Revolver Espresso at Gang 51 on Jl. Oberoi is one of my favourite places to go to for a cuppa'.
Seriously cool place and their sourdough breakfast is to die for.
Even if you don't like coffee it is well worth a visit.

I haven't stepped a foot outside our little Paradise island since early May.

Which means I haven't seen the inside of a shop for about 4 1/2 months now.
Which is a long time.
Now, Bali is great for shopping which means we are headed into danger territory for me.
I thought I'd show you some of the street shopping that can be had.
Now why is it that anything that glitters and catches the sunlight is of instant attraction to me?

What I need and what I want is meddled into a I want everything.

Stylish shopfronts are luring me in.

Fluorescence mini Buddha statues that glow in the dark anyone?

I am finally back in island of gods, incense and mystic.
Not to mention the land of good food and shops.
